James Patterson is a prolific author and has written many novels. He has also co-authored quite a few books, and now, he has a rather unusual co-author – former U.S. President Bill Clinton. As if that is not unusual in itself, it turns out that two rival publishers will also be involved in the publication of the novel. One publisher is Little, Brown, who regularly publishes Patterson’s novels and the other is Clinton’s publisher, Alfred A.
Knopf. According to a report by ABC News, the book will also have a rather novel name, “The President is Missing.”

Patterson said in a statement that working with Clinton has been the highlight of his career, adding that the access to Clinton’s first-hand experience has gone a long way toward uniquely informing the writing of the book. Calling himself a “storyteller,” Patterson went on to say that Clinton’s insight allows them both to tell a really interesting story. Patterson says readers will obviously be drawn to the suspense of the novel, but will also receive an inside look into what it is really like to be the President of the U.S.A.
Bill Clinton said it has been fun working with Patterson
Former President Clinton is fond of writing himself and has published several books, including his memoir “My Life.” He has also published “Back to Work: Why We Need Smart Government for a Strong Economy” and “Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World.” The latest book “The President is Missing” is Clinton’s first foray into fiction.
Talking about the joint venture, Clinton said in a statement that it had been a “lot of fun” working together with Patterson on a book about a sitting President. He said he drew on what he knows from actually doing the job, about how Washington works, and also about life in the White House. Clinton also added that working with Patterson has been “terrific,” adding that he is a long-time fan of the author.
As reported by the Miami Herald, Patterson, as a prolific author, always has a new book out, and has recently been in the media for a true crime book he is writing about former NFL star Aaron Hernandez. He’s also been in the news because he announced that he will be donating more money to school libraries.
ABC news noted that the two publishing companies declined to give any further details about the joint venture. They were reportedly asked if the book refers in any way to U.S. President Donald Trump and his defeat of Clinton’s wife, Hillary.
“The President Is Missing,” the new joint venture by Patterson and Clinton, is due to hit bookshelves in June 2018.
