It's no secret that the mainstream media doesn't see eye to eye with Donald Trump and the White House. After the recent firing of James Comey from his position as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the administration has struggled to defend the president.

Fox News on Conway

From the day Donald Trump announced he was running for president back in the summer of 2015, it was clear that he would not be on the same page as the press. After Trump referred to illegal immigrants from Mexico as "rapists" and "murderers," the media quickly hit back, planting the seed for a feud that has grown into a daily war of words.

While Trump would routinely criticize the press during his campaign, going as far as calling reporters "terrible" people, his opposition has only grown since being elected. The president takes to Twitter on an almost daily basis to call the press "fake news," while members of his administration battle it out with cable news hosts and anchors. That was never more apparent than over the last 24 hours when Presidential Counsel Kellyanne Conway clashed with Chris Cuomo and Anderson Cooper during separate interviews on CNN. As reported by Mediaite on May 10, Fox News was not pleased with how the rival network treated Conway.

As seen during Wednesday's edition of "Outnumbered" on Fox News, several hosts on the network were quickly triggered over Anderson Cooper's handling over Kellyanne Conway.

"He rolled his eyes so hard, he actually sprained his face," co-host Kennedy said. Fellow co-host Harris Faulkner doubled down on Kenndy's remarks, referring to Cooper as "disrespectful" in his treatment of the presidential counsel.

After co-host Abby Huntsman wondered if the media would have treated members of the Obama administration in the same way, panel guest David Avella chimed in.

"People in this industry...have lost total respect for the office of the presidency," Avella said. Co-host Meghan McCain also gave her thoughts, complaining about the alleged unfair media treatment of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who has filled in recently for White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. "Did you see what Sarah Huckabee was going through this morning?" McCain asked, before commenting, "My God."

Moving forward

While the majority of the mainstream media is likely to continue to hold the president's feet to the fire, it appears as if Donald Trump still has a safe space at Fox News. After just four months on the job, Trump is still under a constant cloud of controversy that doesn't seem to be clearing up anytime soon.
