Former President Barack Obama was spotted in New York on Thursday and Friday with daughter, Malia. The two of them enjoyed an Italian dinner on Thursday night at Emilio’s Ballato in SoHo, according to the restaurant's Instagram page. The owner indicated that it was a pleasure serving dinner to the former president. Those who commented on social media said Obama looked happy and relaxed.
On Friday night, they attended a popular Broadway play. They were greeted by screaming crowds when they appeared. Some say fans treated Obama like a rock star. The crowd could be heard screaming, "I love you!" Of course, there was a strong security presence surrounding the former president and his oldest daughter.
The play
On Friday night, the two were seen going to the American Airlines Theatre to see the performance of the revival of Arthur Miller's play "The Price." The show stars Danny DeVito, Marc Ruffalo, Jessica Hecht, and Tony Shalhoub who used to play Monk on television. "The Price" is a story about a police officer who thinks life has passed him by while he was taking care of his now-deceased father.
He and his estranged brother reunite to sell off their father's possessions. They share memories of their father as they take care of their father's affairs.
Obama and his daughter took photos with the cast after the show. They both looked very relaxed and smiled with the performers.
The duo
While in the theatre, the duo was able to enjoy the play along with other attendees. They took their seats after the lights were dimmed and left the same way so they wouldn't distract others in the theater.
When the Obamas were in the White House, they were fond of Broadway plays. They attended a great number of performances, including "Hamilton," ''A Raisin in the Sun" and "Joe Turner's Come and Gone."
While in high school, Malia had a couple of summer internships involving films and television shows. It has been reported that she wants to become a filmmaker. It was not revealed if Obama was in New York on business or if he was there just to see "The Price."
