In recent days, the biggest story that has taken over the headlines has involved retired Gen. Michael Flynn and his resignation as National Security Adviser. Since Flynn has stepped down, President Donald Trump has focused more on the leak of information to the media, than the reason his adviser was forced to quit in the first place.
Trump on Twitter
Not long after Donald Trump became the new president, he quickly started adding names to his administration.
After he tapped Michael Flynn as his National Security Adviser, reports quickly followed which alleged the general had been in illegal contact with government officials from Russia, where the two sides discussed lifting sanctions recently put in place on the Kremlin by the Obama administration. Once the information was confirmed by various news outlets, Flynn reportedly lied to Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, which led to the eventual resignation. As seen on his Twitter account on February 15, Trump is not happy with how the media has covered the events.
"The fake news media is going crazy with their conspiracy theories and blind hatred," Donald Trump wrote on Twitter, before adding, "@MSNBC & @CNN are unwatchable.
@foxandfriends is great!" "This Russian connection non-sense is merely an attempt to cover-up the many mistakes made in Hillary Clinton's losing campaign," he added in a follow-up tweet.
Less than an hour later, Donald Trump returned to his social media account to defend himself from an alleged link to Russia. "Information is being illegally given to the failing @nytimes & @washingtonpost by the intelligence community (NSA and FBI?) Just like Russia." he posted on his Twitter feed. "Crimea was TAKEN by Russia during the Obama Administration," Trump tweeted again, before rhetorically asking, "Was Obama too soft on Russia?"
In his final tweet, as of press time, on the matter at hand, Trump continued his attack on the leak of the information.
"The real scandal here is that classified information is illegally given out by 'intelligence' like candy," he wrote, while stating, "Very un-American!"
