Jackie Kennedy's 18k Gold Cartier Watch was auctioned off early this week at Christie's New York. Originally pegged to be worth $120,000, the watch sold for nearly triple its price at $379,500.

An anonymous bidder won Jackie Kennedy's gold Cartier watch. Now, it has been revealed that the winning bidder was none other than Kim Kardashian.

According to People, Jackie Kennedy was on a 50-mile hike with some of her friends and family after the President John F. Kennedy took everyone in the White House to the task.

It would have been the start of a fitness and public health campaign and the former First Lady wanted to play an active role. This happened just months before the president’s assassination.

Mrs. Kennedy was with her brother-in-law, Prince Stanislaw Radziwill, during the hike, was thrilled about the outcome. Pretty much everyone enjoyed the fitness regimen and those moments was also pretty unforgettable to the rest of the participants.

To show his appreciation, Radziwill gifted Jackie Kennedy with the gold Cartier watch. He had the words “Stas to Jackie 23 Feb. 63 2:05 am to 9:35 pm" inscribed behind it. The First Lady, meanwhile, gave her brother-in-law a painting of himself during the hike.

The painting was also a part of Christie’s auction. The National Endowment for the Arts is said to be the beneficiary of a part of the auction’s proceeds.

Kim plans to wear the watch

Jackie Kennedy supposedly wore the gold Cartier watch regularly as seen in several photographs of the former First Lady.

TMZ reported Kim Kardashian plans to do the same and wear the timepiece regularly. Since her harrowing robbery incident in Paris last October, the reality TV star vowed she will avoid wearing flashy items.

“It’s not to say that I’ll never wear jewelry again or anything like that,” the reality TV star declared when she was a guest on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show.

“I truly don't know if I'd ever wear real jewelry again. I—just my whole life has changed as far as how I travel and what security. I never thought I needed security staying outside my door,” Kim Kardashian said.

Despite its high price, the gold Cartier watch looks pretty simple, understated and has no diamonds. It comes with a black-scaled leather strap to go with the watch’s face’s Roman numerals. It should perfectly go with Kim Kardashian's plan to wear basic stuff.
