Beaker & Gray bar in Wynwood has launched this year the "Instant Karma" Happy Hour on the fourth Thursday of every month where a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to a designated charity. Last month it was the Florida Audubon society and this month it is the Children's Bereavement center. Beaker & Gray has melted itself into the Wynwood community with its floor layout and decor, offering directions to customers via car, taxi or public transport so that one may feel comfortable with going to and from the restaurant--then repeating the next day.

Bereavement center is a great organization

The "Instant Karma" Happy Hour balances the need for working professionals to attend a Happy Hour together with the feeling of altruism in contributing to a worthwhile cause. The Children's Bereavement Center operates all of the South Florida area with offices in Doral, Coconut Grove, Miami Shores and Broward (Nova Southeastern University's Mailman Center for Human Development) offering peer support groups to children as well as adults who have lost loved ones. The guiding principle of the Children's Bereavement Center is that everyone grieves and heals at their own pace, i.e., not a "one size fits all" method. The support groups meet for ninety minutes and are allowed to share their feelings openly with others and allow them recognize their grief and use strategies to move forward with living.

Beaker & Gray is a community staple establishment

The Beaker & Gray establishment is an eatery as much it is a bar with its wide area allowing for walking around and palm pressing but at the same time, being able to sit with friends and have a conversation without feeling crowded. It's claim as a purlieu, or "well frequented place" according to Merriam-Webster's definition is correct.

During the Happy Hour, delicious cocktails like the Moscow Mule, Tommy's Margarita and the Sazerac or classics like the Tom Collins, Daiquiri and the Old Fashioned. Then order plates of Grilled Cheese cuban sandwich (smoked ham, swiss cheese, pickles), croquettas with wagyu beef, Manchego cheese and jerk-aioli or savory Mochi--dill, coconut, togarashi.

The cocktails, appetizers and beers are so reasonably priced that it will stimulate a compunction to eat and drink more, similar to the "Buy one, get one free" deals in retail establishments. The "Instant Karma" Happy Hour is an ongoing promotion so it next month it will be something different.
