Epic Games has released the v9.30 update for "Fortnite" on June 18 at 4 AM Eastern Time. The video game developer has put in a lot of work in this update since all three modes (Battle Royale, Creative, Save the World) have received new content. Players will once again have to change their strategy in the PvP mode since the game creator has removed several items from the game.

On the other side, Epic has also added a new item to "Fortnite Battle Royale." The item, which had been previously revealed in the in-game news feed, is used for healing teammates from distance.

In addition to this, the game developer has removed the shotgun delay and the Combat Shotgun has been nerfed. Considering that this patch has brought a lot of great things, including numerous bug fixes, it will most likely be received well by the community.

The shotgun changes

Epic Games has added the shotgun delay a few seasons ago to prevent players from utilizing the Double Pump technique. This technique was considered overpowered and a lot of players have used it, which is why it was removed from the game with the shotgun delay. However, the "Fortnite Battle Royale" creator has decided to vault the Pump Shotgun at the start of Season 9, yet the shotgun delay stayed in the game. The delay made no sense considering that both shotguns players were able to use, Tactical Shotgun and Combat Shotgun, were semi-automatic.

The v9.30 patch has removed the shotgun delay when players are carrying one shotgun in their loadout. However, the shotgun cooldown now only applies when the player is carrying multiple shotguns. "This is a Quality of Life change to prevent the swap delay system from interfering with players who do not have multiple shotguns in their inventory," is what the game developer commented on this change.

Epic has made it clear that there could be more shotgun delay changes in the future.

Combat Shotgun nerf

Combat Shotgun, the new weapon that was added in Season 9, has been finally nerfed with the latest update. Even though the gun has a 1.7x headshot multiplier, many players considered it overpowered due to its fire rate and its range.

The shotgun was viable from both close and medium range, and some players have even hit shots from insane distances with it.

The v9.30 patch has reduced its damage by 10 percent from medium distance, which is from 2.44 tiles to 4.88 tiles. The damage has also been nerfed for long range, but this time by 20 percent. This nerfs applies to shots hit on target that is 4.88 tiles away or further. "The Combat Shotgun’s accuracy uniquely enables players to hit shots from longer distances compared to other shotguns. However, the damage at those longer ranges was a little higher than desired," commented Epic.
