The latest battle royale video game has achieved huge success in its first week, and it is obvious that it is going to be a serious competitor to "Fortnite Battle Royale" and other battle royale games. Respawn Entertainment has made a fantastic product for gamers, and this product is poised to break numerous records.
While "Apex Legends" has had a great start, it will be very difficult to keep the game popular and updated with new content.
However, Respawn Entertainment has proven to be capable of making a great game, so we have no reason to believe that the development team will do something wrong to push players away. After all, the video game has over 25 million players at the moment, and this number keeps growing every single day!
25 million players
"Apex Legends" managed to attract one million players in the first 24 hours of its release. Only three days later, the video game had 10 million players, and that number went all the way up to 25 million with the conclusion of the first week. This record-breaking number shows us that "Apex Legends" is a serious competitor to "Fortnite Battle Royale," and it is going to be interesting to see how these two games will compete.
In comparison, "Fortnite Battle Royale" needed around 40 days to reach the 20-million player milestone. The game was released on September 26, 2017, and it reached 20 million players on November 6 of the same year. In November 2018, the video game had over 200 million players, and it had 10 million concurrent players on February 2 during the Marshmello's special concert.
While it is very hard to believe that "Apex Legends" will have the same impact on pop culture that "Fortnite Battle Royale" has had, there is no doubt that the latest battle royale hit could surpass the "Fortnite" player base within just a few months! After all, the biggest factor in the growth of the game will be its development, and we are expecting Respawn Entertainment to do a great job with it.
Plans for the future
Even though "Apex Legends" has been out for only one week, its developer already has some big plans for it. The video game only has one map at the moment, but the developer has talked about adding another map at some point. The new map could also be much bigger and have more than 60 players (20 squads) play on it.
