"Fortnite Battle Royale" has been the biggest video game of 2018. Epic Games has created such an amazing product that it has attracted over 125 million players within just a few months. While we currently don't know how many players play the popular video game, it is safe to assume that the number is over 200 million. Keep in mind that the 125 million figure was revealed in July, and "Fortnite" has been released on many new devices since then. There are even rumors about a flying vehicle coming to the game.
Epic Games has managed to constantly increase the number of players for "Fortnite Battle Royale" throughout the last few months.
The game is everywhere, and almost everyone has either heard of it or played it, at one point. The latest figure revealed by the "Fortnite" developer suggests that the game is still incredibly popular. As a matter of fact, the game has never had as many concurrent players as it has now. Maybe that's why reward V-bucks were offered in the game.
Insane popularity
"Fortnite" is very popular in almost every part of the world. The battle royale video game was released in South Korea this week, and there is no doubt that it will get at least 10 million new players. Additionally, since Epic Games had revealed the 125 million figure, the popular video game was released on Nintendo Switch, as well as on over 40 Android mobile phones.
Now, "Fortnite Battle Royale" has 8.3 million concurrent players. This means that almost 10 million players play the video game simultaneously, which is incredible. Sung Chul Park, Epic Games' spokesperson in Korea, has revealed the new figure.
To put it in perspective, Epic Games had revealed the number of "Fortnite Battle Royale" concurrent players in February this year.
Back then, the game had 3.4 million concurrent players, and many believed that it would peak there. However, the video game developer has found a way to make "Fortnite" interesting and retain its player base.
Comparison with other games
With 8.3 million concurrent players, "Fortnite Battle Royale" has broken the record for the most concurrent players of all time.
The second place spot is "CrossFire" with eight million, while "League of Legends" is ranked third, with 7.5 million peak concurrent players.
In contrast, "PlayerUnknown's Playgrounds" has never had more than 3.2 million players playing simultaneously. "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" was supposed to dethrone "Fortnite" as well, but this game has under 200,000 concurrent players, spread among its online games modes.
