The latest updates for "Devil May Cry 5" reveal new gameplay trailers and details at this year's Gamescom event. Capcom was in attendance to explain the new mechanics of the sequel as video game fans will get their hands on the first demo at the event.
Capcom first announced "DMC5" at the Electronic Entertainment Expo and it marks the return of the original franchise. Players will assume the roles of demon hunters Nero and Dante as they go to Red Grave City to stop a demonic invasion. They are joined by demon weapon designer Nico and the mysterious spellcaster V.
Nero will also sport a new arm called "Devil Breaker" as he hunts down the person who ripped his arm off.
Gamescom demo gameplay
IGN streamed a 15-minute gameplay video of the "Devil May Cry 5" demo and players assume the role of Nero equipped with his signature weapons, Red Queen and Blue Rose, and his new Devil Breaker arm. Players will explore a small portion of Red Grave City as they fight their way against hordes of demons and the boss character, Goliath.
The sequel retains the same control buttons with small gameplay changes. For example, Nero can now blast enemies and bounce off walls to follow up an air combo. Players will notice the background music changes whenever they are performing high-ranking combos.
The Devil Breaker plays a huge factor in Nero's gameplay as he performs the majority of his attacks. According to WCCfTech, Nico designed each arm with their own special ability for certain situations. The first arm, Overture, is Nero's standard weapon and he can easily conceal it in public. It has a built-in generator that creates electric shockwaves.
The second arm is called Gerbera and it enhances some of Nero's basic attacks. It can also repel enemy projectiles, or propel him through the air to enhance his evasive maneuvers. The drawback of the arms is that they can break after using them and players must collect arm pieces to reload it, similar to gun ammo. They can also attach it to enemies and detonate them like bombs.
Dante teaser gameplay revealed
According to Game Rant, Capcom released a new game trailer for "DMC5" teasing fans of a small portion of Dante's gameplay style. Dante is the original protagonist of the "Devil May Cry" franchise and has appeared in all of the games since the PlayStation 2 era.
