The latest updates for "Resident Evil 2" reveal new details about the sequel's storyline. Capcom brand manager Mike Lunn told Gaming Bolt in an interview, that the game's story will not be the same as the original PlayStation 1 classic. The Japanese video game publisher also teased another remake title from the "Resident Evil" franchise.

"RE2" was officially announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo event and players will revisit Raccoon City during the T-Virus outbreak. Players will take on the roles of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they explore the zombie-infested town with new gameplay features and tougher challenges.

Changes in 'Resident Evil 2's' storyline

According to Gaming Bolt, Mike Lunn stated that "Resident Evil 2's" narrative will not be entirely the same as the original. The development team did not just change the visual structure of the game, but they also did some tweaking and restructuring in the story.

“For example, there will be places in the original game, that you just drove by, or maybe just walked by, or people that you talk to maybe had a handful of sentences," Lunn told Gaming Bolt. "You’re really going to have deeper experiences with those. Sometimes you can actually go on and play for an extended period. Sometimes you have a little bit deeper story with that person."

Lunn was adamant that the game is not a remake and players will definitely see the changes they made from the original title, from exploring the halls of RPD station and solving its puzzles to their encounters with Marvin Branaugh and the Licker.

Capcom also shared that Leon and Claire's story campaigns will also have changes as they removed the Zapping system from the original. But they will still have interactions during the course of the plot. They will have memorable boss battles with the mutant alligator and the Tyrant, Mr. X.

The game will feature an over-the-shoulder camera view similar to "Resident Evil 4," but it will incorporate a survival-horror style effect on the players when they explore an area.

'Resident Evil 3' remake teased

According to Screen Rant, the official "RE" Twitter page posted a photo of Nemesis and Screenrant speculated that Capcom could be teasing a remake of "Resident Evil 3" soon. While there is no official word from the publisher regarding the tweet, video game fans are curious to see if they are willing to make another remake as they wait for their response.

Just like the first two games, "RE3" is an original title from the PlayStation 1 era and its story coincides with "RE2." Players will assume the role of former S.T.A.R.S. officer, Jill Valentine as she escapes Raccoon City from the T-Virus outbreak. She also exposed the horrific experiments of Umbrella Corporation in the Mansion incident and she is now targeted by the pharmaceutical company using a powerful B.O.W. weapon, Nemesis.
