The latest updates for "Resident Evil 2" remake reveal more in-depth game development from producers Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Tsuyoshi Kanda. GameSpot conducted an interview with both producers and they shared their thoughts and challenges about recreating the classic "Resident Evil" sequel to the current generation of video game platforms.

The Steam database also posted the minimum and recommended system requirements to install the remake for the PC platform. The game will feature Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield returning to the zombie-infested town of Raccoon City as they uncover the mystery behind the outbreak.

The difficulties of recreating 'Resident Evil 2'

According to GameSpot, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi stated that part of the challenge in developing "Resident Evil 2" remake is trying to add new gameplay features, but retaining the same structure from the original title. He and Tsuyoshi Kanda wanted to trace it back to the original game like having a "muscle memory." Both producers wanted to honor the classic game for old-school fans and introduce it to the new generation of people who have not experience it on the original PlayStation console.

Kanda told the video game website that they felt happy as a team when they started the project and they let their creative freedom run wild when developing the game using the new RE engine from "Resident Evil 7."

When asked about the decision to have an over-the-shoulder camera view instead of the first-person view, Hirabayashi stated that they want players to feel a sense of fear when exploring Raccoon City and he wanted fans to see an "up-close and personal" encounter with zombies.

"You've got your character right on the screen, but when a zombie comes in and bites you...maybe you noticed on the demo there's like cinematic zoom in, and they just [get] right up in your face," Yoshiaki said.

So far, the remake will feature changes for Leon and Claire's campaign modes as the development team took out the Zapping system from the original title.

Players will have encounters with classic boss monsters like the mutant alligator and Mr. X.
