"Fortnite Battle Royale" players had a unique opportunity to experience a missile launch event on June 30 at 1:30 PM ET. This event was witnessed by thousands of players and it has brought some interesting changes to the in-game map. However, this is just a small thing compared to what Epic Games has in store for "Fortnite" players before season 5 begins.

According to several leaks, the missile launch event will play a big role in the introduction for the fifth season of the popular battle royale video game. What players saw during the special event was just a tip of the iceberg, and the game developer will soon release even more changes to the map.

Trailer for the Playground limited-time game mode revealed some interesting details, and it appears that the next season will have a historic theme.

Season 5 theme

Reddit user samebutd1fferent recently posted some interesting information regarding season 5 of "Fortnite Battle Royale." The user claimed that the rocket in the secret base would be used by the Visitor in an attempt to go home. However, the rocket would fail and ruin the in-game world, and players would be introduced to the new season with a historic theme.

It appears that the redditor was correct as the rocket did fail and it did ruin some parts of the in-game island. However, most of the map remained unchanged, but there is no doubt that this is going to change soon.

Players, who saw the Playground LTM trailer, have another reason to believe the Reddit user. If you look at the trailer, you will notice a pyramid at the six-second mark. A few seconds later, there is a structure that looks like The Great Sphinx of Giza with a few pyramids behind it.

After 19 seconds of the trailer, we can see something that looks like the Wild West setting.

Epic Games has already put some Wild West files in the game data, which makes it very likely that this would be one of the season five themes.

The rocket launch

If the leak from Reddit is true, then the "Fortnite Battle Royale" developer will make an island extension around C8 area on the map. The Visitor will supposedly use this place for a time machine in an attempt to restore the world to its previous state.

The rocket launch event ended with a "crack" in the sky and it looks like the time has frozen. While it is still too early to tell what the map for the upcoming season will look like, but it won't be surprising if Epic Games decides to release weekly updates for it and make it transition from one historical era to another.
