The latest updates for "Resident Evil 2" remake reveal new details about the campaign stories of protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Game producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi revealed several changes for both character campaigns in the remake during an interview with Game Informer. He also revealed how these changes affect the gameplay mechanics and the main story. The remake will also feature several deleted scenes and characters that were not included in the original game during its early development stages. Capcom officially announced the "RE2" remake at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event, and it will be available on January 25, 2019, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
New details for Leon and Claire
According to Game Informer, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi stated that he and the development team will make some changes for the "Resident Evil 2" remake's campaign scenarios. He told the publication that the Zapping system from the original game involved too much backtracking and removed it for being too "tedious" for players. Just like in the original PlayStation 1 game, players will assume the roles of Leon and Claire in two separate campaign scenarios. Both characters will have interactions as they spend their time together in the zombie-infested streets of Raccoon City while having their own separate agendas when they are apart from one another.
Another change for the remake is the fixed camera angles, as it now features an over-shoulder-view similar to "RE4" and video game fans are somehow wary of it, but they should hold up judgment after they get their hands on it.
Capcom showcased the remake's gameplay demo at E3 2018, as Leon explores the seemingly abandoned Raccoon City Police HQ and fights off hordes of zombies. The undead monsters are seemingly hard to kill in the remake, as shooting them in the head is not enough to take them down.
Deleted characters and scenes added in 'Resident Evil' remake
According to Screen Rant, Capcom will likely put several features in the "Resident Evil 2" remake that are not added into the original game's release. Video game fans took to Reddit and posted some sample artwork designs from the original game and compared it with the remake's official trailer.
These artworks include Ada Wong's coat and a new outfit for Claire. There are also deleted scenes which include the appearance of mutated baboons and spider-men hybrids.
The remake will also include Elza Walker, an original character from the early development stages that was scrapped and eventually replaced by Claire. Capcom confirmed that the remake will bring back Hunk and Tofu as playable characters, and the mutant alligator boss fight.
