The latest updates for "Resident Evil 2" Remake reveal bonus contents for the Deluxe Edition and the return of a classic boss battle from the original game. Game producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi told Polygon that the mutant alligator boss fight will be added to the remake as part of the titles rich in-game moments.

Capcom also announced that the Deluxe Edition will contain DLC character costumes for Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. The Japanese publisher showcased the game at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event, complete with a teaser trailer, gameplay demo, and a release date of January 25, 2019, for the consoles and PC platform.

Mutant alligator returns to 'Resident Evil 2' Remake

According to Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the alligator boss fight will be featured in the "Resident Evil 2" Remake along with Hunk and Tofu characters. The original "RE2" from the PlayStation 1 era featured Leon fighting the large mutant lizard underneath Raccoon City's sewers courtesy of the T-Virus outbreak.

Leon was able to kill it by shooting the gas tanks in its mouth as he struggled to stay alive after taking a deadly gunshot at the back.

Hirayabashi added that he and Capcom are committed to recreating the whole scenario into the remake, making the classic moment more frightening to both old and new fans of the franchise. "I really like the alligator character and I want to have it in there," Hirabayashi told Polygon.

"I think its part of Resident Evil 2's history, and people have lots of great memories of it."

While longtime "RE" fans are excited about the boss fight, the game producer admitted that there are some concerns about putting the alligator boss fight in the game as they are worried that it will not fit in right with the story.

Apparently, the development of it has been recreated several times, so players' encounters with the creature will not be the same as the original.

DLC for the Deluxe Edition

Capcom announced that the "Resident Evil 2" Remake will have a Deluxe Edition as Gamerant reported that it will contain special DLC costumes for Leon and Claire.

Leon will get two sets of costumes and these are the Arklay Sheriff and Noir outfits.

Claire, on the other hand, will have three sets of outfits and these are military, Noir, and the Elza Walker. Gamerant wrote that the Elza Walker outfit was the original template for Claire's design in the original game. Elza was a university student in Raccoon City and wears a distinctive race suit.

Other DLC items include three Samura Edge guns based on Albert Wesker, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine, and the soundtrack from the original game.
