The latest updates for "Devil May Cry 5" reveal a new playable demo and the "DMC" franchise will crossover with "Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition." Capcom officially announced the fifth title at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event after numerous online rumors and fan speculations.

The game focuses on "Devil May Cry 4" protagonist Nero as he faces a new demonic threat in Red Grave City with a new ally and a brand new arm.

Capcom developed the sequel using the new game engine from "Resident Evil 7." It is set to launch in 2019 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and it is speculated to be available before the end of March.

'Devil May Cry 5' playable demo confirmed

According to PlayStationLifeStyle, Capcom will have a playable demo at this year's Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany on August 21 to 25. Game producer Hideaki Itsuno stated in the Capcom TV live stream that the game is a direct sequel of "DMC4" and they currently developing it in Osaka, Japan. He revealed that Nero's new arm, Devil Breaker will have the same functions as the Devil Bringer but it can transform and be ridden.

These features were seen in the E3 2018 teaser as Nero can execute a rocket punch and ride his arm like a skateboard.

Itsuno also revealed interesting detail about the game's new female lead, Nico as he stated that she is the granddaughter of Neil Goldstein, the creator of Dante's signature handguns Ebony and Ivory. Nico will help Nero fight the demons in Red Grave City as she gives him the Devil Breaker. She will be supporting the demon hunter by fixing and upgrading his arm, allowing players to unlock new abilities to lay the smackdown on powerful enemies and bosses.

Game director Machiteru Okabe told Famitsu in a previous interview that Nero's father is Dante's older twin brother, Vergil due to the CGI designs of the character, thus confirming the long-rumored lineage.

'DMC' and 'Street Fighter' collaboration

According to VG 24/7, Capcom will launch a new update for "Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition" featuring the new playable character Cody, new character costumes, loot boxes, and an improved Survival Mode. The update will feature costumes from "DMC4" as Ken Masters will dress up as Dante, while Ed will suit up as Nero. Laura gets to dress up as Gloria, Trish's alter-ego during her undercover work in the Order of the Sword.

There are also new animation taunts in which Ken will equip the Gilgamesh weapon, while Ed takes off his jacket to reveal the Devil Bringer. Laura will get rid off Gloria's white hair and replace it with her signature cornrows.
