Since its original release, multiplayer for the Nintendo Switch has been free, with updates to follow. On May 7, Nintendo finally revealed more information about the Switch Online service coming in September of this year. The Switch Online will include a cloud service, access to NES classic games, and, of course, online play. Even better, the service will be affordable. Pricing and online services
Nintendo's affordable pricing plan is below.
Individual memberships:
- One month: $3.99
- Three months: $7.99
- 12 months: $19.99
Family membership (12 months): $34.99
On the family plan, you can have up to eight members on the account and be able to access the service on different systems as well. You can create family accounts starting May 18, 2018.
Of course, Nintendo isn't Nintendo without being able to access some of their classes. The company has already shared 20 game titles that will be available through Nintendo Switch Online on launch day. On top of that, cloud storage will be included so you can save and back up your game data.
This makes it easy to transfer data if you have multiple systems, or if you break your current system. No worries, everything can be retrieved if you have the online feature. People can also use the Nintendo Switch Online phone application for additional services.
According to Nintendo, this can "enhance the online experience for compatible games through voice chat and other features." Through the app, you will also have access to their Online Lounge. Through this feature, you can send invites or messages to friends and other online players as well as manage your friend's list. With the online play, you can play friendly matches or play competitively.
Launch games and NES titles
As mentioned before, Nintendo has already revealed 20 game titles that will be included in the launch of Nintendo Switch Online; and Nintendo promises ten additional game titles, which will be announced soon, and more games will be added on a regular basis.
Some titles already announced include "The Legend of Zelda," "Super Mario Bros.," and "Donkey Kong." This will be the first time classic Nintendo titles will be available for online multiplayer and for some the first time a chat feature will be included. Even if you do not want to play these games online, as long as you pay for the online service, you have access to the titles which you can play offline as well.
