A few months ago, "Fortnite Battle Royale" players received an in-game announcement about a jetpack. This item appeared under News section in the game, and the game developer wrote that it was coming soon. Many players were disappointed and the feedback was rather negative, which was probably the reason why Epic Games decided to postpone the release of the item.
Players believed that the game developer would never release a jetpack due to the negative feedback, but it turns out that this item will be added to the game very soon. "Fortnite Battle Royale" community doesn't want the game to suffer the same fate "Call of Duty" franchise suffered after adding jetpacks.
However, it seems there is nothing to worry about as "Fortnite" developer made a good plan for the jetpack release.
Jetpacks are coming...but not permanently
While the feedback regarding jetpacks was rather negative, there were some players who wanted to see this item in the game. Epic Games figured out the best way to add jetpacks without ruining the core gameplay, and that is why the new item will most likely come in a limited-time game mode.
Patch 4.2 added some interesting game files which were discovered by data miners. These files include upcoming limited-time game modes, and one of those modes is Close Encounters, the mode that will include jetpacks and shotguns. While the game developer hasn't revealed any information regarding this mode yet, we can expect it to released in the new game mode, as the datamined files indicated.
"Fortnite Battle Royale" files contain a lot more data regarding jetpacks, and it seems there will be a special challenge which will require players to use this item. The best thing about this addition is that it won't be in the game permanently and it will be completely optional. Players who dislike jetpacks will stay away from the limited-time game mode, while players who want to try out a jetpack will be able to do so.
