Season 4 of "Fortnite" is without a doubt the best thus far as it ushered in a ton of stuff.

However, it may well seem that there was a bug that came alongside it that hit players' ability to stack up those XP points.

Not getting any XPs

Redditor u/Koopabillion recently took to the FortniteBR subreddit to call out Epic Games about what he discovered. Per the Reddit post, the player claims that kills within the game's Battle Royale mode are not granting him any experience points.

As his post continues to gain traction on the subreddit (over 4,000 upvotes at the time of writing), so do other "Fortnite" folks attesting that they too have noticed the same bug, not to mention that this happened across all platforms.

These players are pretty much in unison in claiming that no matter how many opponents they eliminated or challenges they've completed, no XPs were rewarded to them. There are some, however, who stated that experience points are capped at 20 no matter how many kills they've garnered.

Epic responds

Someone from Epic Games (u/MrPopoTFS) took notice of the post as he addressed the issue. Just a few hours after the issue was brought up, the game maker has identified the root cause and promptly implemented a fix to it. The patch did not require any downtime and "Fortnite" BR players should be getting the usual XPs moving forward.

However, if the convo thread is anything to go by, players claim that they are still not getting the proper XP adding that some of them were capped at 50. Epic then again responded that it should be working again and advised players to report issues regarding the XP bug.

That said, someone from the same subreddit pitched in the idea of a so-called double XP weekend to compensate for the experience points that were not rewarded during the "Elimination Experience" bug.

This post also raked in a massive number of upvotes from the community, though Epic has yet to make a statement regarding this suggestion.

Meanwhile, the developer has announced that "Fortnite's" Season 4 Battle Pass is already out.

Patch notes for update V4.0 were also rolled out a few days ago as it detailed what's new in the game including the QoL improvements and bug fixes that got implemented in both Battle Royale and Save the World modes. It also announced that one of the BR weapons – the Crossbow has been officially vaulted away, though quite a number of players have been requesting to put away the Silenced SMG instead.
