Joel Zimmerman, also known as Deadmau5, is a man of many interests. Everyone knows him as an electronic producer that can create some incredible music. Others know him as a car enthusiast, a Twitch streamer, or the dude that received half a gallon of Szechuan Sauce. And now, he's moving all of his eggs into one basket: game development.
Zimmerman is creating his own First-person shooter game with the game engine, Unreal 4. Not much has been said about the game, but what we do know is that it's something that he's very motivated about.
Taking care of the proper paperwork
He streamed the game-in-progress this past Sunday (April 15) and fans were able to catch a glimpse of what the game looks like. Everyone was speculating what kind of game it was, but all of that speculation will most likely be pushed to the wayside. According to a tweet from Zimmerman, what was seen in his stream was "mad early 'alpha alpha'" testing. From what can be seen in the clip down below in his tweet, Zimmerman is playing around with a sniper rifle and talking about how he plans to alter the sniper rifle so that it doesn't have hitscan, kinda like what "Fortnite" did with their sniper. Hitscan is when a player doesn't have to worry about bullet drop.
All that has to be done is aim a gun at the opponent, shoot, and kill.
mad early "alpha alpha" testing... but making great progress with the team. For now, consider it a pet project... give us a year at least. https://t.co/z63JrAC6UQ

According to a Reddit comment that Zimmerman made, he said what we saw was something that was created in two days and it's all thanks to "a team of talented devs" that know what they're doing in Unreal Engine.
One fan on Twitter asked if it was an arena shooter, but Zimmerman replied that "it's not 'anything' right now." In that Reddit comment, he says that all they're doing is "setting up some basic mechanics, getting a space together where we can jam out in an arena of sorts and spitball ideas." So he's made it very clear that this project really is in its incredibly early stages.
Sleepless
He ended the comment by saying that this entire thing is a long and arduous process, but it is something that he's very passionate about; to give him a year and more footage will be shared in the future. According to Polygon, the last time Zimmerman did something video game related was when he collaborated with Absolut Vodka to create a VR game that reflected his lifestyle. But this time, this game isn't with any brand. It's just a game that he wants to make. And there's no doubt that it's going to be a well made.
Anyone that follows his Instagram account can see that the producer is always up to something. Whether it be something like slapping down another Nyan Cat vinyl on a car or creating a 3D model of his iconic helmet, he is always involved in something - always scheming.
