The latest updates for "Soul Calibur 6" reveal a new game development featurette of the sequel's pre-order DLC character, Geralt of Rivia, from "The Witcher" game series. Game developer and publisher CD Projekt RED explained the inclusion of the famed monster hunter on the roster, and how his combat skills and witchcraft can provide an interesting dynamic to its sword-style gameplay. Geralt has been a fan-favorite character in "The Witcher" game series and his tale extends from not just in the video game industry, but in literature, a TV series, and films as well.

There are also rumors of other video game characters that could join the sequel's growing roster. A report from Gamer Rant was used for most of the information in this article.

Geralt of Rivia featurette

According to game director Borys Pugacz Muraszkiewicz, Geralt's gameplay in the sequel will be similar to "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," but with notable differences. His fighting style will be more calculated and strategic than the normal sword gameplay the present playable characters.

Geralt combines his combat style with his famed alchemy and Witcher "Signs" to make him effective against his opponents, and create an interesting gameplay dynamic for players who have played the action RPG title, or to those who are not familiar with him.

CD Projekt RED animation head Sebastian Kalemba stated that they had to develop Geralt's fighting style from scratch in order for him to keep up with the characters of "Soul Calibur" series. "Since movement, timing, play perspective, and general responsiveness are very different from fighting games," Kalemba said. " The team had to define a "center of gravity" in order to convey the White Wolf's ability to never make any unnecessary movement."

As for the White Wolf's role in the game's storyline, Murazkiewicz explained that Geralt's involvement had something to do with "The Witcher's" lore of extending interdimensional travel, wherein the latter may have fought characters like Mitsurugi or Sophitia in the past.

Bandai Namco Entertainment will add Geralt to the sequel's roster as a pre-order DLC character and video game fans will enjoy his blend of combat in the series.

More DLC characters teased?

Aside from Geralt, there are three video game characters that are rumored to join "Soul Calibur 6's" growing roster as an unnamed 4Chan user posted their names on the internet.

These three characters are the Hunter from "Bloodborne," Jago from the "Killer Instinct" series, and Lucina from "Fire Emblem." The "Soul" game franchise is famous for bringing other characters from different video game titles and pop culture, from "Assassin's Creed," "Legend of Zelda," and "Tekken" to "Spawn," "God of War," and "Star Wars" franchise.
