On March 8th, Nintendo has released their latest Nintendo Direct to showcase what goodies they have in store for the future.

For those who don't know what Nintendo Direct is, Nintendo Direct is a live stream that occurs every once in a while that showcases a handful of games that are in development or coming soon.

Nintendo previewed not only 3DS titles but Nintendo Switch titles as well.

Upcoming 3DS titles

"WarioWare Gold" is the newest game in the "WarioWare" franchise. It includes the old minigames from the past as well as new minigames amassing a total of 300 minigames.

"WarioWare Gold" releases on August 3rd.

"Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers" is the next installment in the "Dillon's Rolling Western" series. It combines elements of a tower defense and action game. Along with Dillon, players will be able to play as a customized version of their Nintendo Mii character. "Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers" is available May 24th and a demo will be released May 10th.

"Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey" is an enhanced port of the original JRPG, "Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story" for the Nintendo DS. A disease called The Blorbs infected the Mushroom Kingdom, and Bowser unknowingly devours the Mario brothers. Mario and Luigi must find a way out of Bowser's body while Bowser is the only one left to find a cure for the disease.

"Bowser Jr.'s Journey" is an untold story about the whereabouts of Bowser Jr. during this crisis. The game releases sometime in 2019.

"Detective Pikachu" is an upcoming game from the "Pokemon" franchise. Players will take control of a young boy named Tim along with the pudgy and gruff-talking Detective Pikachu to solve the mystery of the Pokemon that have been causing chaos in the city.

"Detective Pikachu" begins sleuthing March 23rd.

The first "Luigi's Mansion" has returned and this time it's being remade for 3DS. To save his brother, Mario, Luigi must explore a haunted mansion he won a contest he didn't even enter. The original game released on the Nintendo Gamecube and the "Luigi's Mansion" remake will see a release later this year.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch titles

"Kirby Star Allies" is a platforming adventure game that puts you in the shoes of Kirby to save Dreamland from impending danger. Kirby's latest ability allows him to toss a heart at an enemy; in return, they will become an ally of yours and assist you. "Kirby Star Allies" offers local four-player multiplayer and will be releasing March 16th, and a free demo of the game is currently available.

"Okami HD" is an HD remaster of the critically acclaimed action-adventure game, "Okami" on the PlayStation 2. Play as Okami Amaterasu as she saves the land from a curse that was brought about by the demon, Orochi. "Okami HD" will be coming to the Nintendo Switch summer 2018.

"Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido" sees players matching as well as eating the same color of sushi only to toss the plates towards your opponent to inflict damage. In a world where sushi is forbidden, The Protagonist, Musashi, must perform combat on a sushi conveyor belt to overthrow the empire. "Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido" arrives June 8th on both 3DS and Switch.

Square Enix's upcoming JRPG "Octopath Travelers" showcases two brand new characters, Tressa the merchant and Alfyn the Apothecary. The game will be released July 13th along with a special edition that comes with the game.

The "No More Heroes" series is back and puts players back into the shoes of Travis Touchdown in "Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes." Travis is dropped into a game world and partakes in seven different games.

In adventure mode, a friend can join in for two-player co-op and take control of the newest character, BadMan. "Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes" will be available later this year.

"Dark Souls Trilogy" is coming to Nintendo Switch. Before the launch of the game on May 25th, Nintendo will have a network test for the game. Details on the network test are coming soon. In addition to the game, An Amiibo figure, Solaire of Astora, will allow players will be able to perform the "praise the sun" pose. The game and Amiibo will be available launch day.

"Captain Toad Treasure Tracker" is an enhanced port of the Nintendo Wii U game of the same title. Play as Captain Toad and explore clever and elaborate stages to progress through the game.

Levels that are "Super Mario Odyssey" themed are available in the game. Local co-op will be available, and a 3DS version is currently in the works. "Captain Toad Treasure Tracker" launches July 13th for both systems.

2015's "Undertale" will be making an appearance sometime in the future and the "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" will be blasting towards the Nintendo Switch July 10th. "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" will arrive on April 24th. The DLC will be available for purchase individually or through the season pass. "Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition" will be arriving on May 18th.

The puzzle-platform horror game, "Little Nightmares Complete Edition" creeps onto Nintendo Switch. The Switch version comes with two playable storylines, Six's journey, and the Kid's journey. Using the "Pac-Man" Amiibo will net you the Pakku mask, an exclusive mask to the Nintendo Switch. "Little Nightmares Complete Edition" will conduct fear May 18th.

"Mario Tennis Aces" is the next game in the "Mario Tennis" series. This upcoming game will introduce brand new mechanics and will include simple rules, which allow old fashion gameplay. Swing mode allows players to play with motion control swings and story mode. "Mario Tennis Aces" will grace the Nintendo Switch June 22nd.

"Splatoon 2" version 3.0 will include over one-hundred pieces of gear, piranha pit, and camp triggerfish is two returning stages from the first game and a new stage called wahoo world.

Rank x will be the newest rank in rank mode. The "Octo Expansion" will be "Splatoon 2's" first paid DLC. Included is a single-player campaign with eighty stages. After completing the single-player campaign, the player will be able to play as the octoling in multiplayer matches. This DLC will cost $19.99 and will be available summer 2018. Purchasing it right now will include octoling clothing for players to use right away.

And finally the big kahuna. "Super Smash Bros." was confirmed for the Nintendo Switch with a short trailer revealing the Inklings from the "Splatoon" series being the next playable characters. Whether or not it's an enhanced port of the Nintendo WiiU version or an entirely new game is up in the air. Nintendo's train shows no sign of stopping anytime soon, and there are even more games Nintendo hasn't showcased yet. 2018 is looking to be another healthy year for the Nintendo Switch.
