"Need for Speed Payback" is going to get its first major content update today. The update is going to include a new event, cars, support for driving wheels, and more. Speedcross will be free to all owners of the Deluxe edition and will be purchasable as a separate standalone for everyone else.

Speedcross: A new event

If you haven't played "Need for Speed Payback" yet, it's a racing video game developed by Ghost Games and published by EA. The game is set in Fortune Valley and includes an offline single-player mode. The game is the twenty-third installment of the "Need for Speed" series and can be played on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The update includes a new event called Speedcross and it’s going to get a few new cars. Speedcross is an event that focuses on scoring as many points as possible through a pre-set course. Players will take control of Mac as they race against several drivers in numerous cities across the world.

Two new cars are going to be added, the Mini John Cooper Works Countryman and the Infiniti Q60 S, but these won’t be the only cars available within Speedcross. There will also be the Nissan 350Z, Dodge Charger, and Ford Focus RS.

Abandoned cars

Starting today, abandoned cars will start to appear, hidden at Fortune Valley. You can locate a car and if you can outrun the cops, you can keep it. Once you get the car you will be able to purchase it from a dealership.

Abandoned cars will start appearing around Fortune Valley to all the owners of “Need for Speed Payback.” The first car that will be available is the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R, and more cars will be available throughout the coming weeks. Polygon stated that we will see other cars such as the Volvo 242DL, the Volvo Amazon P130, and the Plymouth Barracuda, to list a few.

EA's site has a blog by Ghost Games that lists all of the vehicles.

New BMW M Performance parts

There will also be new BMW M Performance parts as part of their customization options. EA has a blog on their site that lists all the new parts that will be available.

Speedlists challenge will also be getting a new addition with Drift Runs and steering wheel support for two more Logitech driving wheels.

Ghost Games received feedback from players stating that the career mode takes too long. They promised to address this, and changes are on the way. In EA's blog post, Ghost Games stated that there are more updates to come so expect more in the coming year. We may see updates that addresses these concerns.
