“Gta Online” has been consistently receiving updates since its launch over four years ago. Many will agree that the greatest addition to the game were the heists. Heists consist of four players that plan and execute robberies in exchange for large sums of money. These missions have become the pinnacle of “GTA Online,” but the interest soon faded as there are only a few heists in the game. The developers have now announced the release of a new heist, “The Doomsday Heist.”
The details
Compared to previous heists, this heist looks particularly story-focused.
It is based on an apocalyptic event that threatens the entirety of Los Santos. This is unlike anything we have ever seen before in “GTA Online.” The previous heists were based on the robbing of banks, solely for your own benefit. This heist is more focused on story, and a world-ending plot that relates to current fears in the real world. This makes the heist look rather interesting.
New content
The new heist has a futuristic focus, with new content such as jetpacks being added to the game. The developers have ignored requests for jetpacks to be added in the past, but it looks like they are finally delivering. The new content is going to be a lot more exciting than mere jetpacks, with hints toward mech suits, futuristic weapons, and new vehicles coming along with the update.
Vehicles
The appearance of flying cars in the trailer of “The Doomsday Heist” has caused the most buzz by far, and it comes as no surprise. The cars were shown flying around Los Santos, and could also be seen near a submarine, deep in the ocean. The developers have mostly tried to keep the content in the game as real world-based as possible in the past.
The addition of content that leans more toward sci-fi looks to be a step in the right direction.
Stealth
Although most of the trailer was rather action-packed, there were also scenes of players walking around in dark suits, hinting at stealth gameplay. The trailer highlighted new gadgets and weapons that allow players to complete the heist completely undetected, which is most likely tied in with the story of the heist.
The inclusion of stealth to this new heist could very well result in a more enjoyable experience, as the series generally revolves around over-the-top action.
Release
You will not have to wait long for the addition of this new heist, as it is being released tomorrow, December 12, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This is the first time since 2015 that a new heist is being added to the game. It is one of the most anticipated updates since the release of “GTA Online.”
