Blizzard rolled out Patch 1.16 to “Overwatch” on October 10. The new update contains a number of balance changes to some of the game’s heroes. This includes D.Va, Genji, Orisa, and Sombra. Interestingly, the update also made some adjustments on how Ultimates are cast. Along with the latest patch is the launch of this year’s Halloween Terror event. The new event introduced new scary skins to the game heroes. In addition, it brings back the player-versus-environment event, dubbed Junkenstein’s Revenge.

Casting Ultimates

With the release of Patch 1.16 in “Overwatch,” players have noticed several changes to the way the Ultimates work.

In the past, when the ultimate is activated, it gets depleted over a period of time. Right now, Ultimate Charge is immediately consumed as soon as the hero’s ability is triggered. The latest adjustment also affects how Ultimates are interrupted, which depends on the type of hero.

There are several heroes that have cast times that will benefit in the way ults are cast. However, since there is a minimal time when the ability starts, thus they can still be canceled or hacked. These heroes are D.Va, Ana, Hanzo, Junkrat, and Lucio. Other heroes that have a Cast time for their Ultimates includes Zara, Tracer, Symmetra, Reinhardt, Mei, and Orisa.

There are also heroes without the cast time but has channeled Ultimates.

These heroes have a much wider window when casting their Ults. This means that aside from being stunned or hacked while casting, they can also be taken out of their ability at any point. This includes heroes like McCree, Reaper, Roadhog, Pharah, and Doomfist.

Hero changes

Patch 1.16 also contains several balance changes to the game’s heroes.

This includes changes in D.Va’s Boosters. With the most recent update, players now have the option to hold down her boost button instead of the default toggle way. Right now, when the player releases the button, D. Va’s ability will end immediately. In addition, her Hold Boosters option is located under the Controls tab, which is found in the Options menu.

Genji’s Dragonblade has also received several changes. His Dragonblade is no longer interrupted when the hero is hacked or stunned. This new change is a buff for Genji since he can no longer be hacked or stunned out of his Ultimate once it is cast. Orisa’s Supercharger can now be interrupted when the hero is hacked or stunned. Players who have a hard time playing against Orisa can now stop her when she is using her Supercharger.

Meanwhile, the “OverwatchHalloween Terror event has kicked off since October 10. Aside from new skins, players can also choose from a wide variety of emotes and victory poses.
