The “Overwatch” Halloween Terror event is now live as players are scrambling to collect as many seasonal-themed skins as much as possible. Fans have two ways of unlocking these new cosmetics: buying them with in-game credits or tying their luck with Loot boxes. Blizzard recently revamped the loot Box system recently, drastically reducing how many times players will earn duplicate items. While this change was meant to accommodate players, it seems like things are backfiring.

Surprising turn of events

According to PCGamesN, the new “Overwatch” loot box system might not be as innocent as Blizzard makes it out to be.

Previously, many fans were complaining about the fact that they received too many duplicates from loot boxes. As we know, duplicates are converted into in-game credits which, in turn, can be used to buy items. While it was annoying to get so many duplicate items, getting coins was a great way to ensure that you could unlock your seasonal-themed skin before the event ends.

Now, however, Blizzard has drastically removed duplicates and ensured that fans get new content instead. The problem here is that most of these new items are just sprays, voice lines, and whatnots. These new things aren’t that important for the majority of the “Overwatch” fanbase as they can be easily bought with credits. It’s become much more difficult to unlock a certain event skin nowadays because it’s not only rare in loot boxes, but you’ll also lack the credits you need just to buy it.

The only “safe” method to unlocking your skin is by buying loot boxes with real money, but even then, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll get the skin you want.

Halloween Event

That aside, the Halloween Terror event is now live. Aside from all the returning cosmetics from last year, fans can also unlock some of the new skins. Characters like Symmetra and Ana have gotten some pretty cool skins, so that’s something to keep in mind for this event.

Junkenstein’s Revenge also returns this year, along with a new endless brawl. Here, a group of four players will work together to stop zomnics from invading Eichenwalde Castle. The main mode lets you play as Soldier: 76, McCree, Ana, or Hanzo, while the endless mode adds Torbjorn, Widowmaker: Genji, and Zenyatta. If you manage to survive long enough in the endless mode, you’ll get rewarded with special sprays depending on your performance. Those who want to play “Overwatch” can get a copy for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
