The latest updates for "Resident Evil 7" will feature a "Gold Edition" for the sequel on December and Capcom teased a sci-fi theme for the next installment of the game franchise.
Gold Edition confirmed
Capcom announced "Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition" and the game will launch on Dec. 12 in North America. The Gold Edition will include two DLC expansions: "Not A Hero" and "End of Zoe."
"Not A Hero" will star franchise's main hero Chris Redfield and its story will take place after the events of "Resident Evil 7's" story. The expansion's gameplay will be more action-oriented than the survival-horror tactics in the sequel as Chris is more experienced than Ethan Winters when it comes to fighting B.O.W.
threats.
Chris will have access to different military equipment such as an Albert-01 handgun, a new HUD that allows players to see is health status and ammo, and an oxygen tank that lets him explore harsh environments. Players will face a new enemy in the DLC and it is said to be based o the Molded monsters from the Baker family's home. Chris will also have the ability to punch enemy monsters displaying his impressive physical strength from past titles.
As for "End of Zoe," players will have a chance to play as Zoey Baker in the game. Just like "Not A Hero" its plot will take place after the game's main story, but Capcom did not reveal any specific details about it.
However, the Japanese publisher posted a photo of the second DLC's setting at a creepy swamp somewhere in Louisiana.
Zoe is the daughter of Jack and Marguerite Baker, and the sister of Lucas in the game. She serves as the player's ally by providing them hints and tactics on how to outwit her derange family.
Sci-fi theme for 'Resident Evil 8'?
Executive producer Jun Takeuchi teased that "Resident Evil 7" will be the start of a new series of titles for the survival-horror franchise, and announced their plans for the next sequel.
"We want [Resident Evil 7] to be the start of a new kind of survival horror and of a new series," Takeuchi said. "We're already thinking of various plans for the next game, but we also want to see how we can continue to evolve survival-horror itself."
Several fans have theorized that the "Not A Hero" DLC will have sci-fi elements that will continue on to the future installments of the series.
Could this mean that "Resident Evil 8" will feature a sci-fi based plot?
The game series has been known for its diversity in terms of gameplay from survival-horror tactics to third-person action sequences. Perhaps this is Capcom's way of making the game more interesting and testing out new ways to improve its gameplay and storytelling.
