Fresh from release, Destiny 2 reaped positive reviews from both the game critics and gaming community with its impressive and much improved PvE campaign. But it seems that it is only the beginning of a more fun and exciting experience for the fans of the franchise.

It looks like Bungie has a lot up its sleeve for the newly released entry in the massively popular online-only multiplayer first person shooter series. The game will soon get its first expansion while a number of in-game events are lining up for the month of September.

Expansion 1 leak

Even before Bungie could announce the first expansion for “Destiny 2,” it recently and prematurely found its way onto the Xbox Store. The leaked listing indicates that expansion 1 is titled curse of Osiris.”

In addition to the title, it also encloses a brief description that previews the wealth of new content coming in the game. In this expansion, Guardian’s journey continues the “Curse of Osiris” with fresh story missions in a new map known as Mercury.

In this new adventure through space and time, gamers can unlock the secrets of Osiris, ward off a dark future, and restore the relationship between the legendary Warlock and his remarkable scholar, Ikora Rey.

List of new content

Xbox Store also outlined the list of content coming in “Curse of Osiris” expansion. It includes the following items:

  • Mercury and its mysterious "Infinite Forest"
  • New story missions and adventures
  • New themed weapons, armor, and gear to earn
  • New cooperative activities
  • New competitive multiplayer arenas and others

The listing does not suggest a release date for the expansion 1 but it is expected that Bungie will make the official reveal soon.

September in-game events

In more news, the studio recently detailed its content plans for the next two weeks of September in its latest blog.

On Wednesday, September 13, the first ever Raid is going live. Called the Leviathan Raid, this new event sees who among the best players will become the first ones to triumph in the challenge.

A new Nightfall will be accessible for players to grab their chance to get the best gears to use for the Raid.

Moreover, a new experience dubbed the “Trials of the Nine” will begin on Friday. Xur will first appear with a chest of Exotics for purchase and the Flashpoint activity will move over to Nessus also on September 15.

Based on the blog, the Iron Banner activities for the Crucible are hinted to take place in October.
