“Destiny 2” is finally back online along with a new update that introduces the Factions, changes, and a slew of bug fixes. Bungie has also detailed the Faction Rallies, what it entails, and the gear rewards as the new events begin.
The game’s server was down longer than expected on Monday but “Destiny 2” is now back online. Shortly after, the studio released update 1.0.3 that adds Factions and prepares the game for Faction Rallies.
New patch brings changes, bug fixes
Notably, the new update further aims to quash persistent bugs and bring necessary changes.
Gamespot cited that one of these changes apparently involves the “Call to Arms Milestone” where players now need less progress to complete. Also, the update adjusts the location of Power ammo for Clash and Supremacy.
The latest patch also brings a host of fixes to patch several issues found in the game. For example, the Clan XP is now distributed correctly to players joining public events, and they should already be able to receive their weekly clan Engrams.
Start times
Following the game’s weekly reset, Faction Rallies goes live on Tuesday, September 26 at 2:00 a.m. PT/5:00 a.m. ET or 9:00 a.m. BST. It will end on October 3 around the same time.
These limited-time events will see players choose one of the factions and join the group to gain reputation tokens for doing specific tasks.
These tokens can be used to get faction-themed rewards and ultimately grab an exclusive weapon after the events.
Event mechanics
Apparently, the three factions from the first title will make their return in the Faction Rallies. These factions are Dead Orbit represented by Arach Jalaal, Future War Cult by Lakshmi-2, and New Monarchy by Executor Hideo.
The players are then tasked to gather supplies for their faction and destroy resources of their enemies.
Once the gamers choose what faction to join, they should complete public events to earn Faction Tokens. The public events involved are Lost Sectors, Strikes, or the Raid, or playing Crucible.
Gear rewards
Gamers can turn in Faction Tokens for a variety of faction-themed rewards including weapons, armor, and shaders.
Furthermore, each of the three factions has its own powerful weapon. A scout rifle is specific to Dead Orbit, a pulse rifle for Future War Cult, and a sidearm for New Monarchy.
When the event concludes, the faction that has the biggest collection of the packages will be named the victor of the Faction Rallies. Then, all players can buy its weapon for 50,000 glimmers, but members of the winning faction will only need to pay 1,000 glimmers.
“Destiny 2” is available now PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
