PokeCoin is the type of currency in Pokemon GO, which can be used to purchase almost all of the shop items. There are two ways to get PokeCoins from the game. The first method is by exchanging real-world money to PokeCoins. The second method is to interact with PokeGyms to acquire coins. The second method is quite challenging and needs a lot of work.

How to get PokeCoins from PokeGyms?

PokeGyms are spinning monuments that can be taken over by players that are part of the game’s team such as team Instinct (yellow), team Mystic (blue), and team Valor (red).

To interact with PokeGyms, players must first reach level five and select their desired team. After picking a team, players can assign a Pokemon to defend an unoccupied gym, or players can also take over rival gyms and assign a defender afterward. Players can set one Pokemon per gym.

Players can automatically acquire 1 PokeCoin for every 10 minutes that a Pokemon stayed in a contested gym. If the gym is not active, it will give 1 PokeCoin per hour. The total amount of PokeCoins will be automatically delivered to the player’s inventory after their Pokemon has been removed in the gym. Players can receive a maximum of 50 PokeCoins per day for every gym defended. The best trick to earn PokeCoins is to stay active on the specific gym and heal the defenders whenever they are attacked by rival teams.

Legendary creatures makes it harder to defend gyms

On the other hand, legendary boss raids caused gyms to become more active. Legendary Pokemon are the rarest and most difficult creatures to acquire in the game. But all legendary creatures have their weaknesses that can be used to defeat them. Tyranitar and Golem are by far the most versatile creatures in Pokemon GO, but they are not the only option to defeat legendaries.

Niantic already released three legendaries, namely Lugia, Articuno, and Moltres. According to Pokemon GO Hub, the legendary Articuno’s weaknesses are rock, electric, fire, and steel type Pokemon. Players can use Omastar, Flareon, Tyranitar, Golem, Arcanine, Typhlosion, and Scizor to defeat it.

Lugia is a psychic flying type creature.

Its weaknesses are dark, rock, ice, ghost and electric type Pokemon. Players can use Tyranitar, Golem, Jolteon, Magneton, Jinx, and Gengar to defeat it. On the other hand, the recently released Moltres is pretty easy. It took only 2 players to defeat it. Its weaknesses are rock, electric and water type creature. The best counters for Moltres are Golem, Tyranitar, Vaporeon, Gyarados, Omastar, and Feraligatr. But players should take not that Moltres catch rate is very low.
