The delayed release of the much-awaited game, “Red Dead Redemption 2” is reportedly due to a cross-platform feature between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that Rockstar Games would like to develop. The game was initially scheduled to be released in fall of 2017. However, in May, the game developer announced that the highly anticipated second installment will arrive in spring of 2018.
Cross-platform feature
According to reports, numerous sources from Rockstar Games shared that the game developer is pushing for the cross-platform feature on “Red Dead Redemption 2.” The site claims that this is the same source who revealed the information about several “RDR2” announcements.
In addition, the site shares that there are speculations right now about Microsoft, Sony, and Rockstar talking about the said feature.
Cross-play is one of the most requested features for gamers. Players who would like to play their favorite online titles with friends using different platforms can enjoy the game together with this feature. Currently, “Minecraft” and “Rocket League” announce that soon players can play together using Xbox One and Nintendo Switch platforms.
The talk between the three gaming titans about a cross-play feature in “RDR2” has no recent update yet. However, if the previous statement by Sony about cross-play is to be given weight, it appears that the talk would not be fruitful.
The Japanese gaming giant made a statement previously when it denied developers of the chance to make cross-play options between the three consoles, namely Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
Characters
The only official information that was released by the game developer about “RDR2” are the series of trailers as well as the images.
From the trailer, there are seven character images seen with the sunset as their background. This sparked many speculations that the characters could be under John Marston’s old gang. There are others claiming that the main character in the game’s first installment would be returning as the title’s protagonist.
Aside from that, there are other speculations suggesting that the three characters in the center of the promotional teaser image released are Bill Williamson, John Marston, and Dutch van der Linde.
These characters were also present in the previously released game. Based on these speculations, most likely, we would be seeing other “RDR” characters like Shadow Wolf, Landon Ricketts, Red Harlow, and Jack Swift.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” is slated to be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. While there are numerous requests for the game to be released on PC, Rockstar Games has yet to make a comment about it.
