“Mass Effect: Andromeda” will soon greet players with more difficult missions. Plus, a new alien race called the Batarians might finally transition to the Andromeda Galaxy. In a recently released teaser trailer, publisher EA and BioWare revealed that platinum difficulty will soon be added to the APEX multiplayer as well.
Following recent news that the action-packed role-playing video game will not be getting any single-player DLC (although this hasn’t been officially confirmed as of this writing), BioWare and EA announced that the new difficulty level, called “Platinum,” for the APEX multiplayer missions will “take your skills to the next level.”
APEX missions + Platinum level
The Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels are currently available for “Mass Effect: Andromeda” APEX multiplayer missions.
Each game level offers players increased difficulty, risks, and of course rewards. Although details as to when the platinum level will be added to the game, game producer Fernando Melo noted that the new more difficult level will most likely be added in the next update for the game.
The Batarians
In the trailer below, you will notice the appearance of a new race towards the end of the video. These are the Batarians. This specific race has been seen in the original “Mass Effect” trilogy.
They have been originally introduced as antagonists in the “Mass Effect 1” DLC “Bring Down the Sky.” And then they moved on to “ME 2” with a much more significant role, and they ended up being destroyed by the Reapers in “ME 3.”
Moreover, this specific race has been notorious for being uncooperative with other Milky Way species, although there are some who are friendly.
According to lore, they have not completely made the transition to the Andromeda Galaxy. But the trailer suggests that might not be the case for long.
It would be exciting to know how the Batarians will figure in the game. Since there have always been an accompanying storyline and snippets of lore in updates and DLC for "Mass Effect: Andromeda," surely there will be an explanation or backstory of some sort why the Batarians are in the Andromeda Galaxy.
Sequel on hold?
Apparently, sources confirmed to Kotaku that BioWare Montreal, the main development studio, has moved on to other EA projects. This could be “Anthem” and “Star Wars Battlefront 2.” However, a small team will be handling the remaining additional content and patch support for the multiplayer for “Mass Effect: Andromeda.”
This could only suggest that the sequel has been put on hold.
And players getting a single-player DLC might not become a reality. However, both BioWare and EA have neither confirmed nor denied any of the earlier-mentioned reports. So we will keep you updated for more updates. In the meantime, check out the latest teaser trailer below.
