Studio Wildcard has officially set the official release date of hotly anticipated “ARK: Survival Evolved” Ragnarok mod. It will now coincide with the launching of the physical copies of the game for PS4 and Xbox One platforms.
Ragnarok arrives on Aug. 29
Following a series of delays, the Ragnarok mod is now confirmed to be available by the time that the console version of the game will be launched on Aug. 29. It is now pushed back from the studio’s initial plan to roll it out in early August.
PS4, XB1 version delayed
The game developer explained that the reason behind the delay of “ARK: Survival Evolved” physical release on Xbox One and PS4 is the longer certification process required than it expected.
So, fans will now receive their copies of the game this coming Aug. 29, which is tied in with the release of the Ragnarok mod.
According to the studio’s official statement, the game has now completed the Gold Master and certification for release. It also expressed apologies to players and the rest who may have been affected negatively by the delay.
It went on to say that the company wanted to address the issue of delay the soonest time possible. However, it waited until the time that it gets a clear idea of what will surely transpire next.
From an early August launch, the next major update for PC was rescheduled on the same date that the console versions will be out in stores. Studio Wildcard announced that the new Ragnarok release on the current-gen consoles and the next PC update will be simultaneously launched on Aug.
29.
The good things
Although the delay usually spells bad news, fans benefit something good out of it in this particular case. The studio said that the extension in the release will enable the team to improve the development of the map and players can expect a mammoth update – bigger than what was originally planned.
How so? The development team said that upon its launch date, players will see the overground of the world expand by one-quarter – close to "The Island-sized" expansion.
What’s coming
The upcoming update will introduce the addition of new biomes and coastal Wyvern Canyon. It will also include a huge boss encounter, new engrams, and wait for it – a Ragnarok secret!
Finally, the team will be adding custom creatures to the base game that will enable gamers to transfer them through the CrossARK system.
For example, players can now move their Ice Wyverns to The Island, The Center, and Scorched Earth.
“ARK: Survival Evolved” is a dinosaur action-adventure survival title developed by Studio Wildcard using the revolutionary Unreal Engine 4. The full version of the game is set to arrive on Xbox One and PS4.
