Among the biggest announcements for the E3 2017 gaming convention wasn't really one that was spoken about. Instead, it was the reveal of a breathtaking new "Star Wars: Battlefront II" video game from EA. The new game is a huge open world multiplayer game that is the sequel to the popular title released in 2015. Here's the latest on what gamers are looking forward to based on the exciting new trailer video below.

The dazzling new trailer

As seen in the two-minute trailer that was just unveiled, this game is massive. It will feature the ability to play as characters ranging from Darth Maul in the prequel trilogy's "Phantom Menace," to Kylo Ren from "The Force Awakens," and even newer characters. There's clone troopers, Chewbacca, Yoda, Han Solo, Boba Fett, Kylo Ren, Rey, Captain Phasma and more. In addition, the game features stunning worlds to play in from throughout all of the movies, including one of the newest planets that will be featured in the upcoming "Last Jedi" film later this year.

Darth Maul clearly wins the MVP of the trailer as he's seen ripping through all sorts of clone troopers and other enemies using his double-edged lightsaber.

However, there is the ability to play as just about any character imaginable from the films throughout the 40 years of "Star Wars" lore. In addition, so far, it's appearing that most of the content is free, rather than requiring gamers to dish out extra money to get it.

One of the other cool things beyond the multiplayer, open world aspect, and space missions in the game is a huge single-player campaign. That particular mission focuses on an elite Imperial officer who is trying to avenge the deaths of Darth Vader and The Emperor. Not bad for some solo gaming fun there.

'Star Wars' game release date

So when can you get your hands on the new "Star Wars: Battlefront II" game you ask? The new video game is slated for release on November 17, 2017.

The game will make its way to the Microsoft Xbox One, Sony Playstation 4, and Windows PCs for gamers to blast, chop, punch, fly, and spin their way through. That will put the game out just weeks before the arrival of the new movie, "The Last Jedi" which hits movie theaters on December 15th, 2017.
