The new NBA season is just four or five games deep for most of the teams as of Wednesday (October 24). However, there are a number of early contenders based on remaining undefeated. Below is a look at which five teams are ahead of the rest, so far, in the early going. Keep in mind, this is no disrespect to the world champions, they just have an early blemish on their record.

1

Denver Nuggets 4-0

A 100-98 statement win, at home, over the Golden State Warriors, helped Denver claim the top spot in the early going. Don't get too excited, yet, as there are 78 more games on their schedule. The Nuggets' other wins came against non-contenders like Sacramento and Phoenix, as well as a sort of contending Los Angeles Clippers team. However, the team has shown balanced scoring and multiple weapons, on the court, so far.

2

Toronto Raptors 4-0

Just a notch below Denver, is the best team in the Eastern Conference. Kawhi Leonard has made his presence felt, immediately, on this team, and Kyle Lowry has been doing great, at the point, with double-digit assists in multiple games. Among Toronto's wins was an early preview of their potential playoff matchup with Boston. DeMar who?
