Top 5 movies for the September 30 weekend box office

These five films are projected to rake in the most cash from moviegoers this weekend.


"Night School"

There's no denying that Kevin Hart is able to put out comedic films on a regular basis. His latest co-star is comedian Tiffany Haddish, in a tale of Hart's character trying to get through night school, while his teacher (Haddish) gives him plenty to deal with. This film's projected to take in $32 million this weekend per Box Office Mojo estimates.



This animated film tells the tale of a mythical Yeti trying to prove that a mythical type of creature - "humans," actually exist. It's got an ensemble cast of voice actors ranging from Channing Tatum to Zendaya to LeBron James. This one's looking to take in $23 million which is good for the No. 2 spot this weekend.


"The House With a Clock in Its Walls"

Actor/comedian Jack Black stars in this family film about a magician uncle who takes in young orphan Lewis Barnavelt. Together, the uncle and nephew must engage in a daring quest to find a magical clock which could end the world. The No. 3 movie is estimated to bring in $14.1 million more over this past weekend.


"A Simple Favor"

Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, and company deliver a humorous, dramatic, murder-mystery. Supermom/video blogger Kendrick befriends upscale Lively due to their kids being in the same school, but then the secrets and mystery begin to unfold. This one's estimated to have taken in another $6.8 million this weekend.


"The Nun"

Who doesn't love a good scare? This one has audiences jumping out of their seats and spilling popcorn or drinks. "The Nun" is the latest installment in "The Conjuring" series of films, and, of course, focuses on the menacing title character. It's scaring audiences enough to the tune of another $5 million at the box office this past weekend, but could continue to earn with Halloween approaching.
