Catherine, Duchess Of Cambridge gave birth to a boy on Monday, April 23, according to an official announcement from Kensington Palace. Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge was there with her when she delivered their third child. A statement on Twitter stated that the mother and baby boy are doing fine, and the entire royal family is delighted about the birth. The newborn is Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's sixth great-grandchild.

1. Announcement

The announcement of the newest royal baby came the traditional way.

A framed notice was on a golden easel placed outside Buckingham Palace just like the one placed there on July 22, 2013, to announce the birth of William and Kate's first child and on May 2, 2015, to announce the birth of their second child. The notice will be on display there for only one day.

2. Particulars about the baby

As of now, only the baby's gender and weight are known. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was born on Monday at 11:01 a.m. after Kate was taken to the hospital around 6 a.m. The name of the baby boy has not been announced yet.

It was a couple of days before Prince George and Prince Charlotte were named. Therefore, bookmakers will have to wait to find out what the name will be.

Most bets are on Arthur, Albert, and Frederick. However, the official name might not include any one of those. What is known for sure is that the baby will have at least three names like his siblings.

Prince George's full name is George Alexander Louis, and Princess Charlotte's full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

3. Place in line to the throne

Whether the new baby had been a boy or girl, it was not going to get in line in front of Princess Charlotte after the ruling was made several years ago in reference to baby girls.

The new baby's birth does means that Prince Harry will move from fifth in line to sixth.

The order is Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, the new prince, and then Prince Harry.

4. Siblings

Prince William took the older siblings to the hospital to meet their baby brother on Monday afternoon. Prince George is 4, and Princess Charlotte is 2. All the children were born at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, West London as well as their father who was born there 35 years ago.

5. Timing of birth

The birth of Prince William and Duchess Kate's third child came at a time surrounded by other royal events. The baby's great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 92nd birthday just two days ago on Saturday, April 21.

April 29 is another date to celebrate. It will be William and Kate's seventh wedding anniversary. Then on May 2, Princess Charlotte will celebrate her third birthday.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will get married on Saturday, May 19 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Duchess Kate is expected to be there with her children. The two older ones are part of the wedding party.
