The much-awaited date for the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has now been announced by Kensington Palace, and Ms. Markle is busy finalizing the name of her bridesmaid. The date has been fixed as 19 May 2018, and the venue will be St George's Chapel in Windsor.

Sky News reports that there are several names on the list of probable bridesmaids and Priyanka Chopra, an actress of Bollywood, heads the list.

She is a close friend of Ms. Markle, and has left a mark on the American entertainment world through her performances in the TV show “Quantico” apart from her role of Victoria Leeds in the Hollywood movie “Baywatch.”

Other names in contention

Priyanka Chopra is a former Miss World and Meghan Markle met her at a party in Toronto during the filming of the TV series “Suits.” Priyanka is seen quite often on the red carpet, is an ambassador for Unicef and both she and Meghan share common interests. Hence, they have good bonding. It is, therefore, natural that she will be the first choice to act as a bridesmaid at the marriage ceremony of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Other names doing the rounds include Jessica Mulroney who accompanied Ms.

Markle when she went to the Invictus Games to meet Prince Harry soon after they made their first official public appearance. A third name is that of Serena Williams who has been one of Meghan’s friends since 2014, while the fourth contender could be Millie Mackintosh who is a former “Made In Chelsea” star - she also a close friend.

When Prince Harry met Meghan Markle

Prince Harry is a helicopter pilot and had been active in Afghanistan as a part of NATO. Like any young man of today, he had his moments of fun and traveled extensively before deciding on getting married. There were rumors linking his name to other women, but finally, it was Meghan Markle who caught his fancy.

According to BBC, the two of them met through mutual friends in London in July 2016.

Later, they were seen at the Invictus Games which is an international sporting event set up by Harry for injured soldiers. The two of them sat separately at the opening ceremony in Toronto, Canada but arrived together for the wheelchair tennis event which took place a few days later. They were also seen shopping together in Kensington. Subsequently, in November 2016, the prince officially confirmed he was dating the American actress.

The date of their marriage is now known but, there is a still a cloud of mystery on who will finally be the bridesmaid. Another question is whether she will continue with her acting career once she becomes a part of the Royal family.
