Thanks to Science, human beings have been able to craft some wonderful carriers such as planes, cars, trains, and ships. As technology is advancing, more advanced ships are being built. Furthermore, engineers are even constructing these sea carriers so big that you could consider them to be metallic mobile islands. Some of these ships carry containers, oil, gas, and other goods while others are just luxurious cruise ships. Here are some of the biggest ships in The World.

1. Knock Nevis

According to Interesting Engineering, this is the longest ship that was ever built, and it was an oil tanker.

The tanker was decommissioned in 2009, but it remains the largest moving thing created by man. The ship was built in Japan in 1979, but got damaged in 1988 during the Iran-Iraq war. It later got repaired, and was then bought by Norwegian Jorgen Jahre in 1991. It served for 13 years as Jahre Viking. From there, it was purchased by First Olsen Tankers and renamed Knock Nevis. The ship is said to be longer than the height of the Empire State Building.

2. TI Class

While considering the internal volume rather than mass, the Tankers International (TI) class are perhaps the Largest Ships roaming the seas, according to Popular Mechanics. The fleet consists of the TI Asia, TI Africa, TI Europe and TI Oceania, and the supertankers were built by a South Korean company known as Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in 2003.

Each TI tanker can comfortably hold over 3 million barrels of oil in the double haul.

3. Harmony of the Seas

If you want to board the biggest Cruise Ship in the world, then Harmony of the Seas will be your best bet. According to Marine Insight, the ship is the biggest cruise ship on earth that was built as the third vessel of its series by the STX France and commissioned in May 2016.

It made its maiden voyage in June last year, and it travels between Barcelona and Civitavecchia offering world-class comfort.

4. CSCL Globe

The CSCL Globe is the biggest container ship ever built after its launch in November 2014. According to Interesting Engineering, it was among the five container ships ordered by China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) in the year 2013.

The Globe is a little bigger than Maersk Triple E Class container carrier. However, they are of the same length. Triple E means “Economy of scale,” “Energy efficient,” and “Environmentally Improved.”

5. Sailing Yacht A

The Sailing Yacht A is owned by a wealthy Russian man known as Andrey Igorevich Melnichenko, according to Popular Mechanics. Sailing Yacht A is the biggest sailing super-yacht in the world and even has a helipad. The yacht cruises at a speed of up to 24 mph, and is worth $375 million. The Yacht A is equipped with motorized propulsion. Wondering what the wealthiest people do with their money? This is one of the ways they spend it.
