Some people use Google search to look for the latest trends in fashion, games and newest smartphone devices available or just want to watch the most recent viral video on the internet.Others are using Google to look for the job that perfectly fits their skill set, and this is the best time to take advantage of the search giant.
On Tuesday, the Google for Jobs search initiative was launched by the company which focuses on helping people who are out of work, those who are thinking of changing careers and people who want to find better opportunities on their field of work.
How to use Google for Jobs
No, you don’t have to use any special URL to use this feature. Just type a job-seeking related question in Google’s search box and the feature will be automatically triggered.
You can enter keywords such as “jobs near me” or a more specific query like “junior programmer jobs.” After typing in the keywords, extra tabs may appear to help you filter your search. For example, if you enter “senior accounting jobs,” additional options may appear such as “financial analyst,” “accounting manager” or “property accountant.”
In addition, if you hover your mouse to these options, more choices will be shown. If you point your mouse to “property accountant,” “financial planning” and tax accountant” will be added to the list.
When you’re done searching, you have the option of getting email alerts if new jobs that suit you are posted by Google’s partners; LindedIn, DirectEmployers, CareerBuilder and Facebook, just to name a few.
There are a few limitations
Unfortunately, the Google’s Job Search feature has several limitations such as the salary information of the job you are searching for.
Nick Zakrasek, Google’s product manager, said that the company is developing to add this feature, although some of Google’s partners show estimated salaries on their sites.
Another limitation is that the Microsoft Edge does not yet support this feature, as well as within the Google iOS app. However, you may get listings if you use the regular Google search on the iPhone.
Also, Google won’t be able to help you get that job you are looking for. You will have to get assistance from somewhere else if you are seeking interview advice or help to improve your resume.
This feature is also limited to the U.S. only.
