Anyone who is familiar with pro wrestling knows about the iconic Hart family. The eldest son of Stu & Helen Hart, Smith has passed away at the age of 68, after battling with prostate cancer. He is also the uncle of current WWE superstar Natalya and former WWE superstar Davey Boy Smith. The news was announced on Smith's Facebook page.

His legendary career

Smith wrestled throughout the '70s, '80s and '90s. Smith Hart competed across Japan, in the National Wrestling Alliance, and his father's promotion, Stampede Wrestling. He has also appeared in WWF and WWE.

He is famously known for climbing the cage and interfering in the 'Bret Hart vs Owen Hart' steel cage match at Summerslam 1994. One of his greatest memorable WWE appearances was when he supported his brother, WWE Hall of Famer Bret 'Hitman' Hart, in a No Holds Barred Match against Mr. McMahon at Wrestlemania XXVI. Smith appeared in the ring last time in 2013. He also opened the Hart Brothers Wrestling School, which trained superstars like Eric Young and Tye Dillinger.For his accomplishments all around the world, Smith Hart was inducted into the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016.

Loses battle with cancer

Smith had been posting emotional messages on social media for a long time which gives an indication that he was aware of what was going to come.

Last May, Smith posted on his Twitter account - "Yes the rumors are true that my cancer therapy hasn't been going very well and thus I will be going in this week for extensive chemotherapy." Earlier this year, he posted a snap after he visited his brother Owen's grave with the caption - "Though I'd visit Owen today. I'll see you soon brother." Last month, Smith posted a video on hisTwitterr account with the caption - "As the hours tick down on my life, it's hard to put ones life to words.

Friends helped me put this video together."

After Smith passed away, there were a lot of messages on social media by his friends and family members, who showed their love for him and paid condolence to him and remembered his funny behavior and a great sense of humor.

WWE Superstar and his niece, Natalya posted - 'My uncle Smith Hart will be forever in our hearts as unique, genuine and as real as they come. And we are proud of you for fighting so hard in your battle against cancer. We will miss you so much, Smith.'
