Brand new iPhones were introduced at the Apple launch event yesterday. Following the iPhone 7 is the iPhone 8, which has better cameras and faster processors than its predecessor. On top of that, there is the iPhone X, the premium device that commemorates the 10th year anniversary of iPhones.

iPhone X

The $1,000 smartphone packs a lot of powerful features and upgrades that make it look like a phone from the future. For the first time, an iPhone has an OLED screen with a modern display that runs edge to edge. Compared to the iPhone 8 series, the iPhone X display is much larger and sharper.

The OLED display technology offers much deeper blacks than the LCD, which is featured on the formers' screen. Also, the latter device provides Dolby Vision and HDR compatibility.

One of the major changes in the iPhone X is the removal of the home button to make way for Apple's newest Face ID. It is a facial recognition feature that scans the user's face to unlock the phone. Also, the selfie camera now has Animoji, which are moving emoji that mimics facial expressions, and Portrait mode, which is capable of taking portrait shots with blurred backgrounds. The dual rear camera setup showcases a telephoto portrait lens with an aperture of f/2.8. Both cameras feature an Optical Image Stabilization that is helpful in darker conditions.

The iPhone 8 also has its fair share of incredible features. In fact, it is the first iPhone to support wireless charging. Apple made some changes to the design by replacing the aluminum with a glass back. The phone simply needs a Qi-compatible wireless charger, and it can start juicing up. The Qi technology is already available in some places offering wireless chargers, including Starbucks and inside the latest car models.

Apple's True Tone feature is also incorporated. It allows adjustment of color temperature and screen appearance for better viewing experience.

It runs on a similar processor as the iPhone X, which optimizes the augmented reality tricks offered by the device. Pretty soon, these tricks are scheduled to make their way to actual apps and games in the App Store.

As for the 12MP camera, it also features optical image stabilization that can record 4K video.
