Apple has taken the wraps off the new line of iPhones, which include the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the 10th-anniversary edition called the iPhone X. All the phones are packed with top-end features that give stiff competition to rivals. The new-gen phones have a faster A11 Bionic chip. Additionally, the iPhone X comes with a Face ID that lets owners unlock their device with a glimpse. However, the latest iPhone X is not as thin as many other iPhones.

Thickness of the X edition of the phone

Over the years, Apple products such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and more have been getting skinnier.

However, the latest top-end device that launched on September 12 this year is thicker than the phone that launched six years ago. The iPhone X is 7.7 mm thick, while the iPhone 8 is 7.3 mm thick and the iPhone 8 Plus is 7.5 mm thick. It should be noted that the iPhone X is even thicker than the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5s that measured 7.6 mm.

Why is the new phone thicker than older Apple smartphones?

The iPhone X is the first Apple device to sport near bezel-less design. The phone is also the first Apple mobile phone to exclude the Home Button. Apple has not officially revealed the battery details of the phone, but the handset is expected to include an L-shaped battery for enhanced usage. According to the company's website, the phone lasts two hours more than the iPhone 7.

Apple's website states that customers will be able to experience up to 21 hours of talk time, up to 12 hours of internet usage, 13 hours of video play back time, and up to 60 hours of audio playback time. The battery in the phone is also capable of wireless and fast charging. Owners can get nearly a 50 percent charge in just 30 minutes.

The bezel-less design and increased battery size in the device could be the reasons why the phone is thicker than many other iPhones.

Will the thickness of the iPhone deter iFans?

Although the new phone is slightly thicker, it is loaded with many other top-end features to entice customers. Moreover, it is not extremely thick in comparison to other models launched this year.

Many iFans may prefer to have a slightly thicker phone rather than compromising battery life of the device.

Preorder and release date of the new bezel-less Apple phone

The iPhone X will be available for pre-order starting October 27, and it will start shipping on November 3. Undoubtedly, the phone has many impressive features, but a starting price tag of $999 may deter many customers from buying the phone.
