Google is preparing to announce its Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL handsets on October 4. The smartphones are thought to be among the first new variants to come along with a more powerful chipset as well as a larger curved display.

However, another set of features of Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL has surfaced on the internet. According to XDA Developers, the next-gen Pixel smartphones will feature front-facing dual stereo speakers. It is noteworthy that since Google’s forthcoming mobile devices will have front-facing dual stereo speakers, the handsets might not have thin bezels on top and bottom.

The publication site also claimed that the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones will come along with a Portrait Mode in the Google Camera app. This feature will resemble iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus’ Portrait Mode.

According to Gears Of Biz, the mobile devices will arrive with the new Music Recognition, a feature that will identify the music playing nearby the smartphones. The new smartphones will also come along with a Revamped Pixel Launcher, Squeeze to launch Google Assistant as well as an Always on Ambient Display mode.

Wireless charging technology

Google’s new smartphones will most likely feature a wireless charging technology, which is based on the fact that the search engine giant has just been linked to the Wireless Power Consortium.

While this does not necessarily confirm the wireless charging feature on the new smartphones, but this could be the company’s positive step forward towards this technology.

The tech firm will launch the Pixel 2 with a 5-inch display alongside a metal and glass design. The smartphone will be available in different color options: white, blue and black.

The smaller variant will be manufactured by HTC. Meanwhile, the larger Pixel model will have the design elements of the LG G6 Android smartphone, this is for the reason that the LG company will manufacture the handset.

Handset’s specs

The smaller model will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor. This chipset powers most of the leading handset brands currently available on the market, such as Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Note 8.

Both the next-gen Pixel smartphones will feature a 4GB of RAM and either a 64GB or a 128GB of built-in storage. However, the tech company has yet to announce whether the handsets would feature a microSD card slot.

Aside from the new smartphones, the company is also expected to announce a host of new products, which include the updated Daydream virtual reality headset, Mini Home smart speaker, and the brand new Chromebook.
