Apple has officially released its iOS 11 mobile operating system to the public. The software upgrade comes along with major changes to Apple’s iPads as well as iPhones. The new operating system brings improvements to Maps and Siri AI virtual assistant, among others.
The new mobile operating system will be compatible with iPhone 5s, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, 6S, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The Cupertino-based tech company will roll out its latest iPhones (iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X) with iOS 11 pre-installed. Regarding the iPads, the new software upgrade will be compatible with iPad mini 2, 3, 4, iPad Air and the iPad Pros.
The iOS 11 improved the voice of Apple’s digital assistant. The multicolored visual has replaced Siri’s microphone icon. Aside from Siri’s improved voice and a new look, Apple’s virtual assistant now translates phrases in Italian, French, Chinese, Spanish, and German.
According to New.Com, the iOS 11 made the Control Center more customizable, allowing users to add the features they usually utilized. The software update also comes along with a new design for icons of several applications, including Messages, Photos, Music App, Contacts, iTunes Store, and App Store.
Messages app
Apple device users can now utilize the Messages app with a huge display. The apps to be in contact with iMessage are now aligned.
The iOS 11 also revised the switching keyboard with different keyboard placements as well as a Keyboard Settings option.
The new software update now better supports multitasking so that Apple device users can easily bring applications into the split-screen mode. The iPads will now have powerful drag-and-drop features.
Do Not Disturb while driving feature
The Do Not Disturb while driving feature of the iOS 11 can detect when the Apple device user is driving. Users can activate this feature with a customized message.
Apple Pay feature
The tech company was supposed to release its new mobile operating system with Apple Pay, however, this feature could be available in the next update, according to Mac Rumors.
This feature will allow users to send money through the Venmo app right in iMessages.
Regarding the camera app in iOS 11, as demonstrated during the announcement of the latest iPhones, the operating system brings Portrait mode support to work in accordance with several camera features, such as True Tone flash, HDR, and optical image stabilization. All photos and videos captured by the users will now take up half of their device’s storage space.
