Although Samsung recently unveiled its highly anticipated Galaxy Note 8 smartphone. The South Korean tech giant is already preparing for their 2018 flagship or most important device, the Galaxy S9. The upcoming handset is expected to arrive with a rear-facing dual camera setup.

While the Galaxy Note 8 is available with a variety of features, such as curved display, small bezels, S Pen support and IP68 certification, it is the first smartphone of the tech company to arrive with a rear-facing dual camera setup. All handsets of the company released in recent years are available with single-lens cameras.

According to KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the Galaxy S9 Android smartphone will come along with Note 8’s rear-facing dual camera setup, 9To5 Google reported. Nonetheless, Kuo did not provide specific details about the specs of the smartphone’s camera setup.

With Galaxy S9 rolling out with a rear-facing dual camera setup, it appears to be a logical step for the tech company to make with the forthcoming mobile device. The smartphone could be a direct competition with other flagship mobile devices, Tom’s Guide reported.

However, it will be interesting to witness exactly how Samsung will offer the camera setup, whether the company will stick with the telephoto lens of the Note 8 or the module will offer something else.

There’s a possibility that the Galaxy S9 might include an ultra-wide-angle lens as its secondary sensor.

Meanwhile, the renowned tech leaker, Eldar Murtazin, claimed that the Galaxy S9 will arrive with a replaceable module, just like the MotoMods of previous Motorola mobile devices. If Murtazin’s claim turns out to be true, the upcoming Samsung smartphone will have parts that can be clipped on the device, such as a mini projector, sound system, and a camera kit.

Release date of the device

The smartphone’s announcement is quite far off at this point and the tech company might unveil the smartphone in March next year. The Galaxy S9 is anticipated to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner and a rear-facing sensor. The handset is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with a 6GB or 8GB of RAM.

Smartphone with Android 8.0 Oreo

The device will come pre-installed with Android 8.0 Oreo. The handset will sport a 6.2-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with 570ppi. The device will also feature a USB-C and a Bixby AI assistant with a dedicated button.
