Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is about to debut on Aug. 23. More leaks have surfaced prior to the grand launch of the highly anticipated latest offering from the South Korean brand. A new report floated today, saying the new device is set to release a day after the Unpacked event launch, which is on Aug. 24. Interestingly, the new device has also been spotted from the Geekbench listing and registered high scores.

Release date

In a few days, the new Galaxy Note 8 would take center stage in the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled on Aug. 23. The release date could follow in a few months.

However, a new report has been posted today on Reddit. Samsung could allegedly release the new device on Aug. 24, which is a day after its grand launch at the Unpacked event.

A new post from Reddit user note8throwaway said the upcoming handset from Samsung is set to release the next day after its launch. The post claims the information came from an employee of Best Buy Mobile and was also verified through the Samsung and Verizon channels.

Galaxy Note 8 US variant scored high in Geekbench

A new model from Samsung has passed through the Geekbench testing software. It carries the model number SM-N950, which is believed to be the soon-to-be-launched Note 8. The benchmarking software is used to verify the processing performance of a new smartphone, prior to its debut.

This gave out a sneak peek on how the latest handset from Samsung is expected to perform.

Based on the leaked Geekbench report, Trusted Reviews has noted that the Note 8 registered a 1815 score in the single-core test and a 6066 with regard to the multi-core test performance. Although these are already high scores, it would most likely change when the final product comes out.

The report also mentioned that the new handset runs with the same processor found in its rivals, the OnePlus5 and HTC U11. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 sports the powerful Snapdragon 835, which is the top of the line chip from Qualcomm.

As expected, the upcoming smartphone also features the new Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. Furthermore, it promises a huge 6GB of memory.

The European variant scored high too

Meanwhile, Android Headlines spotted another Samsung model from the database of Geekbench. The model number SM-N950F was included in the list, which also points to the upcoming Galaxy Note 8. The affixed “F” on the model number signifies the destination of the variant, which meant the smartphone is designed to be offered in European countries.

The results reflect a single-core score of 1984 and a multi-core score of 6116. It can be observed that the European model scored higher than the U.S. variant listed in Geekbench.

The publication has also noted that the device runs with Exynos 8895, which is the brand’s own system-on-chip (SoC) manufactured on the 10nm process mode. It also runs with the latest Android 7.1.1 operating system. The report registers a 5346MB of RAM as well.
