Nokia certainly had a great start to this year, as the device-manufacturer first revived its classic 3310 feature phone and then moved on to introduce its mid-range smartphones: nokia 3, 5 and 6. Following which, the Finnish technology giant was immediately in the news for preparing for the debut of its high-end smartphones: Nokia 8 and 9. While not much has been revealed regarding the upcoming devices from the side of the company, thanks to leading speculations and rumors, fans have a vague idea of what can be expected from the respective smartphones.

The most recent leak pertains to Nokia 8, which suggests that the device might come with the Android 8.0 Operating System, or rather the Android 8.0 OS.

Smartphone spotted online

According to a report published by Gadgets360, the smartphone has been spotted on the benchmarking website, Geekbenc, as carrying the unreleased Android 8.0 operating system update. The smartphone carries the codename, ‘Unknown heart,’ and several other key features of the device have been revealed as well. For instance, as is already known, the leaked information suggests that the Nokia 8 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip. Apart from this, the smartphone is also expected to offer 4GB of RAM along with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.

Users will obviously have the option of expanding the memory if they’d like, but this information has not been confirmed by the firm as yet.

Specs and features

What is interesting is that this is the first time that the Nokia 8 smartphone has been spotted carrying the latest Android 8.0 operating system update. If this actually turns out to be true, then the smartphone’s launch date may probably be delayed by a couple of months at least.

As many people may already know, Google is known to debut its latest Android updates on its own smartphones first. It is only later that all the other devices receive the update.

Previously, the Nokia 8 smartphone was expected to debut on 16 August. However, if the device is going to be carrying the Android 8.0 operating system update, out of the box, then it doesn’t seem like the device will launch anytime before the introduction of Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.

The company is also apparently working on a new entry-level smartphone called Nokia 2, which is expected to come with a 4.5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 212 processor, 8MP rear and 5MP front shooter and Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out of the box.
