LG is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated LG V30 smartphone. There has been a constant flow of rumors over the last few months regarding the specifications of the rumored handset. The latest development coming out directly from the company is that the upcoming LG V30 is confirmed to ship with a 6-inch FullVision P-OLED QHD+ display, with a resolution of 2880x1440 pixels.
Less power consumption
The integration of FullVision display signals the presence of fewer bezels similar to that of the recently released Samsung Galaxy S8 series. Industry analysts are of the opinion that an Oled Display will only consume less power and also delivers enhanced battery life.
Addition of plastic OLED display
The company sources revealed that the addition of a plastic OLED display helps the company to produce curved edges on the sides. However, a leaked image of the device shows the non-curved portion on the bottom portion. Hence, the device will not offer the same look and feel as the Galaxy S8 but will only be slightly tapered.
An interesting point to note is that LG has shifted the placement of the traditional logo to the rear side.
With 18:9 FullVision aspect ratio, the LG V30 will provide support for HDR10 coupled with the ability to cover 109 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. Moreover, the Korea-based company added that 20 to 50 percent has substantially reduced the lower and upper bezels.
The forthcoming phone will be lower when it comes to the overall form factor compared with the previous counterpart, LG V20.
In a statement released to the press, Juno Cho, President, LG Electronics Mobile disclosed that the company is deeply researching OLED display since it brings excellent value for the smartphones. Cho agreed that the competition is intense in the mobile segment. Hence, the company chose to incorporate OLED display in the upcoming flagship. No doubt, the LG V30 will be a strong competitor to the premium iPhone 8, which will also ship with an OLED display.
Secondary display ditched
Meanwhile, Android Authority claims that LG has eliminated the secondary display on the LG V30 handset and has incorporated a new floating bar.
It is possible to access notifications, shortcuts and other relevant information quickly. Moreover, the display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with support for Daydream.
On the optics front, the rear camera embedded with the LG V30 will offer crystal clear glass Lens, the enhanced transmittance in addition to f/1.6 aperture. The phone will deliver an improved audio performance paired with water-resistant support via IP68 technology. The phone will offer military standard protection together with premium cooling management functionality.
Expected to launch on August 31, the pre-orders for the LG V30 in the United States will start on September 17 with expected release date tagged to September 28.
