Smartphone makers are now very keen to offer nearly bezel-less handsets. Samsung has already announced its Galaxy Note 8 with infinity display, while Apple is expected to roll out its iPhone 8 next month with a bezel-less AMOLED screen. Now, it appears that Google will join the bezel-less device competition.

Google is expected to launch its next-gen Pixel devices on October 5. The smaller variant (Pixel 2) will be dubbed as the Walleye, while the larger model (Pixel 2 XL) will be called the Taimen. WCCF Tech reported that the Google Pixel 2 XL might come along with a bezel-less display.

The larger variant will feature a 5.9-inch bezel-less Quad-HD+ OLED Screen with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9, which could push the handset into the phablet territory. Meanwhile, the smaller model will sport a 4.97-inch FHD OLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and side bezels. The upcoming devices will run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

Both smartphones are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 system on chip (SoC), First Post reported. The smartphones are expected to arrive with a 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of built-in storage. Due to different manufacturers, Google’s 2017 Pixel handsets will have different designs. HTC will manufacture the smaller model Walleye, whereas the larger variant will be made by LG.

However, the Walleye is expected to feature a metal body with two front-facing speakers.

Camera features

On the camera front, the smaller model will feature a 13MP rear sensor and a 7MP front camera. The handset is also anticipated to arrive with a wireless charging technology. The search engine giant has not unveiled much information regarding its smartphones, but reports are claiming that smartphone enthusiast won’t be disappointed with their specs and features.

The Google Pixel 2 will be equipped with a Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, proximity, gyro, compass, and accelerometer. The smartphone will be available in different color options - Black, Blue, and Silver.

New Chromebook and Mini Google Home

Not only the tech industry would witness the unveiling of the next-gen Pixel smartphones, but the tech company will also launch the new Pixel Chromebook and the Mini Google Home.

This is something that could give tech fans a treat as long as these new devices will have a low price. Nonetheless, the tech company has yet to announce the official price of the Pixel Chromebook and Mini Google Home.
